Task 5: Sound Study
James Curran | Tokyo Gifathon from Partizan Animation on Vimeo.
Solar Walk - excerpt from Reka Bucsi on Vimeo.
The music and the sound effect are incredibly well done. I am surprised by those sound effect for some details in the second video because this video is a bit quite, so every sound effect needs to be spot on. I like how the first video balanced so many different sound and music and didn't make it abrupt every time it switches to next clip.

Task 4: 3 animated shorts or stings
This animation has very nice narration.
This one is more simple but is very power and inspiring because of the poem and the voice, the background music also very suit for this poem, great combination. Great drawing and character design, it is fun to watch. That cheerful music and singing are amazing.

Idea Pictures
I am quite happy with the square one, mainly because it is different from what I draw normally. I definitely have learned a lot from testing the light and shadow. I like the texture that I add and a little detail in the lamp which on the background.
I erased the outline and the bow tie to make it more simple and comfortable. I think there are still many little things I can improve and refine, but overall I am quite pleased with it.
Compare to last two, I was very struggled with the portrait one. I think the composition is better, the idea of a man got shot at the leg and left his gun on the floor. But still I think I didn't show it very clearly that he actually shot himself. although I make him facing away his gun just want to show that idea. Another thing about this piece is, the sytle is quite different compare to last two. I think I need to reduce some details from my drawing.

Task 3: Illustrators using Print Processes
Jeong Hwa Min always use bright contrasting colour with strange and funny character. She pulls huge inspiration from wall paintings and prints by Sol LeWitt. She is a very bold, concise, minimalist and sometimes abstract artist. She has evolved as a means of self-expression and is something that she’s constantly building on.

Ideas
For the square one I want to just do a portrait of Poirot. I don't want to show too much detail on him, I think just only the musache and outfit can show who am I drawing. I still need to testing about the colours and the way I draw it.
I really like the idea of giving people clues to guess who my character is. So for my landscape format I want to draw many Poirot's objects like his glasses, walking stick, his hat... I really like the idea, I just need to refine it.

Task 2: Editorial illustrator

This illustrator from South Korean name
Myeong-Minho, she is often drawing some lovely couple doing their daily things together. I think her work represents that love is the best thing of all. She likes to add some texture to her digital works.
Julian Callos drawings are very creative; he did a lot of wonderful watercolor prints. Human and animal are his main theme most of the time. Nature is a great theme, the human can protect of destroying the nature, nature can strike back, and I think Julian Callos use this beautiful way to represent that.

About the Author
Choosing An Author
I mainly looked at two author's work this summer. One is Agatha Christie the queen of crime writing, I watched many movies based on her best known novels about Detective Hercule Poirot. It is interesting to read from novel compare to watch it on TV (such as' the murder on the orient express', 'the murder of Roger Ackroyd') , overally descriptions of the personage's psychology are conscientious and specifically. After reading the actual book I had a better understanding of every character and more clear idea of the plot.
Agatha Christie
I read 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' by Douglas Adams early actually. I love that book, I like how he write about the most serious thing in the universe but make it very fun to read.

Evaluation (See
guidance below for more information)
You are required to write a 500 word
evaluation of this module.
Throughout this Module, I gained many
skills and experienced new tools. For example, I made GIFs, I learned how to
use Adobe Illustrator, and I tried to use some 3D element in my work such as
fabric, plastic bag, paper folding. More importantly, I realized in this
module, it including many thinking, considering and planning. In the process of
making illustrations, needs to found out what is successful, what is great and
what makes this project exceptional. When I had some problem, ask people about
it, listen to their opinion and what they suggest. In the way found the
solution to solve the problem. Don’t worry if things turn out quite badly; it
is also a process of experiencing and learning. I am grateful to be in these
sessions and finished those tasks.
I am pleased I had the chance to make GIFs
in the first brief. Creating an animation is one of my dreams, it promoted me
to drawing and study art. Although GIF only has like about 3 sec long, it is
still very exciting. Because of this brief, I even brought an A4 size light
box. I saw many comic designs has it, and I finally get one on my own.
The second brief I had a mixed feeling out
it. I was much struggled coming out of ideas about acts of kindness, though it
sounds like a very simple task, we can only use shapes. This is a lot harder
that I thought. Also as a beginner of Adobe Illustrator, I found it tough at
first, but I believe this will get better when I use this program more offend.
I am quite happy with the last brief, not
only because I am interested in Martha Graham, I very like her dance, but also
I had that I idea which I never think of before, and I don’t even have a clue
how can I generate this idea. The answer is simple, just try everything I think
that probably will work. Some didn’t turn well like the plastic bag, but then I
used fabric I suddenly feel that this is that kind of feeling I want to create.
During this module, I realized many of my
weakness such as lack of idea and imagination. From making GIFs to making
stickers, I stuck to these two task many times. Every time I look at other
people’s work, I will have that kind of thought wish I could have a thought of
that. I think I need to do more reading and research to open my eye and mind. I
decide to study and practice my imagination in this summer. I think I really
should to relax and clam down sometimes and try to find some of my imagination
like what I was when I was younger.
Overall, I am very enjoying this module.

Person of note 6
Martha Graham
Poster
I use Photoshop to hide the wires, and adjusted the balance of colours.
I am very pleased with these three images, more importantly for me is to try some material that I haven't try before, and gradually understand how to make it work. This has been a great experience for me. It inspires me to use a more different 3D element on my work in the future. Although some might worked very badly, that experience is the most precious. So I enjoy this Task because of that.
Stamps
In the end, Considered of the size of the stamp, I decided to used two of my very simple collage work as my stamps. I then used Photoshop to change the colour and made another two as my stamps.
Postcards
Here is my postcard, collage but not just using the paper, I also used the purple stain. I want to keep it simple, so I only used three colour.

Person of note 5 - Tests
Study of Martha Graham's face
Fabric
I brought a mitre of purple stain fabric from town and use it as my new 3D element. The reason I choose this fabric is its texture is very smooth and shiny, just like those dance movement by Graham. In fact, fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick in his Halston Heritage spring 2017 collection were inspired by Martha Graham, and many of the garment from that collection have many fabric's texture similart this purple stain that I brought, very soft.
Here I sewed my fabric on my drawing. It turns out quite well but I don't want to have those wire, so I am going to Photoshop it afterwards.

Because this ruffles are changeable, so I scan it again. This one is lighter.
I also tried with glue, the ruffles are hard and strong in this one. It become another effect and feeling I think, and I can not decided which one is better.
